THE DESIRE TO CREATE IS UNIVERSAL AMONG HUMANS THERE ARE MANY REASONS PEOPLE HAV MADE OBJECTS OF BEAUTY – FUNTIONALITY, RELIGION, POLITICS, EDUCATION, AESTHETICS, DESIRE, FEMINIST, PSYCHOLOGICAL

4 REASONS FOR ART FUNCTIONALITY-UTILITY All societies have needed eating utensils, storage vessels, glassware, machinery, furniture, automobiles, buildings- all have artistic qualities and functional qualities RELIGION Many objects have been created to support religious beliefs and activities Worship is aided in many cultures through the use of magical designs and geometric shapes and the creation of good luck charms Priests wear unique ornaments and coverings Objects may represent a god or a spirits power

POLITICS Art can serve as a tool of persuasion or propaganda This goes back to ancient times EDUCATION-INFORMATION Many artworks provide valuable information about historical figures, places and events Paintings, sculptures, and stained glass windows have been used to pass on a cultures history, folk tales and religious traditions, mythology, and moral values Provides a record of heroes, gods, or other vital information of the past
