3 Introduction As this paper develops the comparisons of Windows 2000 to Windows XP and Microsoft.NET it is imperative to note what each if these systems are and what they were designed to do.

Windows XP also has different versions.

11 Conclusion  The best choice of operating system for a computer user to choose is going to be the operating system that would benefit him/her the most.  Windows 2000 is created to help with the network side of computing with its abilities to handle file sharing, web applications, and Windows 2000 server connectivity.  Windows XP is a great operating system for any person to use; however, it has great capabilities for the multimedia user, and is very reliable. .NET is an operating system that is more of a platform than an actual operating system, and that it is generally being used to provide developers with a platform for writing programs that can easily and securely operate interchangeably.
