15 What you must & must not do 1.Must follow the course plan in your handbook 2.Must register for the right course code as specified in your handbook 3.Must watch out when courses are offered 4.Must try to complete your core as early as possible 5.Must not take elective courses listed under other departments

18 Exemptions from credits For courses taken by students before from other faculties or other institutions pages 101-103 (eng), 114-116 (mal) Must indicate your intention to apply in the 1st year of study

19 Course Evaluation Listed under each course description Usually 50% continuous assessment, 50% final examination Check reading listed in the library’s Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) Any problems ask the lecturers – don’t be shy!

20 Academic Advisors Each will be assigned an academic advisor You must see your advisor at least once every semester otherwise you will not get your examination slip

21 Your Performance You must obtain a minimum GPA and CGPA of 2.0 every semester Those with GPA 3.7 and above is recorded as “Pass with distinction” Those with GPA 2.0 and below is recorded as being under “Observation”

22 To be on the Dean’s List you need Take a minimum of 15 credit each semester; GPA 3.7 Must not obtained lower than a grade C for any course Have not repeated any course Can be considered for UM’s Bright Spark Programme – Ph.D sponsored by the programme

23 IF you are under Observation … You cannot take more than 12 credit worth of courses in the following semester If your GPA is less than 1.3 or less for 2 semesters – you can be terminated If you GPA is less than 2.0 in 4 consecutive semester – you can be terminated If you fail core courses 3 times – you may be terminated Less than GPA 1.0 – you may be terminated

24 IF you are under “Ob” you must not be Despair Take more subjects in the following semester – you can be terminated Prioritize your options – take subjects you think you can do well to get you out of “Ob” See and discuss with your academic advisor
