2 Main focus of the programme OP RD&E Improving the quality of education for every learner Improving the quality of education for every learner Improving performance of R&D Strengthening research, technological development and innovation Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and life- long learning Thematic objective 10: Thematic objective 1: Thematic objective 9: Promoting social inclusion, combatting poverty and any discrimination The global goal of OP RD&E is to speed up our move to growth through human capital via substantial investments into knowledge economy foundations.

8 Priority axis 1: Strengthening of capacity for high- quality research (ERDF) Thematic objective: 1. Strengthening research, technological development and innovation Investment priority 1: Enhancing research and innovation (R&I) infrastructure and capacity to develop R&I excellence, and promoting centres of competence, in particular those of European interest. Specific objectives corresponding to the investment priority: 1. Strengthen research excellence 2. Increase the benefits of research to society

9 Priority Axis 2: Development of HEIs and human resources for research and development (ESF/ERDF) Thematic objective: 10. Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and life-long learning Investment priority (ESF): Improving the quality and efficiency of, and access to, tertiary and equivalent education with a view to increasing participation and attainment levels, especially for disadvantaged groups. Specific objectives corresponding to the investment priority 1. Improving the quality of higher education and its labour market relevance 2. Increasing participation of students with special needs; reducing the drop-out rate 3. Improve quality and availability of adult education at HEIs 4. Improve evaluation, quality control and strategic management of HEIs 5. Improve conditions for education linked with R&D and for the development of HR in R&D Investment priority (ERDF): Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and life-long learning by developing education and training infrastructure. Specific objective corresponding to the investment priority: 1.Enhancing the educational infrastructure at HEIs for the purposes of HEIs profiling; improving access for disadvantaged groups; and increasing the openness of HEIs for the needs of life-long learning education
