3 U.T. Tyler Compliance Program The U.T. Tyler Compliance Program is intended to demonstrate the absolute commitment of the University to the highest standards of ethics and compliance with all applicable laws, policies, rules, and regulations. Ethical conduct and compliance are personal responsibilities, and each employee will be held accountable for his or her conduct.

5 Contacts with the Media, Government, and Outside Investigators What does it mean? l As a U.T. Tyler employee, you may be contacted by representatives of the media or external governmental agencies. l You should be aware that U.T. Tyler will cooperate with any governmental investigation of U.T. Tyler, or of a U.T. Tyler employee, with due consideration given to the legal rights of U.T. Tyler and its employees.

6 Contacts with the Media, Government, and Outside Investigators What should I do? l First - notify your supervisor and U.T. Tyler’s Marketing and Communications Office if you are contacted by media or any external investigators. l If you are contacted at home, ask the individual to contact you at your U.T. Tyler office the next business day. (If you are served with a search warrant or subpoena, please cooperate and contact your supervisor as soon as possible.) l While faculty or staff are not restricted with respect to their area(s) of professional expertise, it is recommended that inquiries from the media about official University business or policy matters be referred to Beverley Golden in U.T. Tyler’s Marketing and Communications Office at ext. 7303.

Tyler’s Office of Marketing and Communications, and/or other appropriate individual(s) at your institution. l Supply information to external investigators which must be provided under the Texas Public Information Act. 8 Contacts with the Media, Government, and Outside Investigators Who’s Responsible? l U.T. Marketing and Communications office is responsible for all communications with the media. Contact Beverley Golden at 7303. l U.T. Tyler’s Compliance Director is the designated coordinating agent for all public information that falls under the Texas Public Information Act. Contact Mary Barr at ext. 7151. l When providing information to elected officials, coordinate with the VP for Governmental Relations.

10 U.T. Tyler’s Disciplinary Procedures l Failure to follow compliance guidelines may result in disciplinary action including: departmental counseling, formal disciplinary action, suspension or termination.
