2. What is the shape symbolizing? Is this a metaphor for something?

3. The forest is in the shape of a pair of lungs. This is a metaphor for how we are killing our main source of oxygen or even the lungs of the earth. The image may be related to smoking because of the destruction of a lung. We are doing this to ourselves just as a smoker is, it is hard to quit, and we are doing it for our benefit even though it affects the lives of others. (in this case animals and the people of future generations)

5. What is the appeal of this image? Logos because of cause and effect. The image makes it clear if we continue deforestation, then we will eventually run out of oxygen. At the bottom right corner it says “Before it’s too late” Ethos because of the WWF logo at the bottom right corner, which makes the image credible, and pathos because we realize we are taking away homes and oxygen sources.

7. The audience is basically everyone. It shows that we should all be concerned because of our lack of resources.

9. The focus is the area of land where the trees have been cut down. Houses and vehicles take the place of the trees and the terrain is for the most part dirt with patches of grass.

11. How is the image balanced? Color effect? The entire image is made up of shades of green that show the life and natural beauty, except for the brown area of one lung where civilization has taken over and destroyed the living things. This area sets off the balance of the lungs and really creates emphasis through the contrast of colors. Your eye immediately is drawn here.

13. The trees are omitted from the land. You cannot see the animals present and how it is affecting them. The image’s purpose is to allow the viewer to relate. We think about the air that we breathe; not the animals who we already know are losing homes.
