Sound Doctrine for Younger Women A Study of Titus 2:4-5

Conduct appropriate for young women

LOVE THEIR HUSBANDS AND CHILDREN...  Love your husband with a passionate love  Genesis 2:24-25…a love that binds you to your husband for your entire life.  A love that is not ashamed!  Love your children like only a mother can!  A type of love that is a gift from God…

Self controlled and Pure  Self controlled (ESV) or Discrete (KJV)  They are to take care of the business at hand  Much gossip and sin takes place when women do not know their roles  Pure (ESV) or Chaste (KJV)  Once again, their lives are to be free from the wilds of the world.

Self Controlled and Pure Proverbs 21:9 & 25:24 It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife. Luke 14:20 And another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'

Working at home  Genesis 3:16 defines the role of women in the home.  She is to be a child bearer (go forth and multiply)  She is to have desire only for her husband  She is to submit to the rule of her husband  This description goes against every feminist movement mankind has taken!

Working at home  When a young women works outside of the home it does not negate her responsibilities to her family or the home.  Working outside the home only becomes a sin when this God given responsibility is neglected.  Proverbs 31:10, “An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.”

Kind and Submissive to their husbands  In respect to operation or influence on others, i.e., useful, beneficial, profitable  A young woman is to carry out her work not only submissively, but with kindness  For some reason our society hates the word “Submissive”  However, to be pleasing to God we all submit to someone (i.e., God, husband, parents….)

Don’t bring reproach on God’s word One commentary said: “by unbelieving husbands, who, by the ill conduct of their wives, would be provoked to speak ill of the Gospel, as if that taught disaffection and disobedience to them.”

Examples to Inspire Women

Hannah  Her name means "gracious, merciful; that he gives"  Prayers where answered through Samuel’s birth  She dedicated Samuel to the Lord  Offered a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord  Blessed with five more children after Samuel!

Esther  Raised by her cousin…learned from other Jewish women  Wife of Ahasuerus, king of Persia  Risked her life to save her people from extinction  Ultimately, a beautiful and gracious woman used in God’s providence to save His people

Mary, mother of Jesus  A young virgin girl who become the mother of Jesus  She accepted who Jesus’ true family was (brethren)  Followed her son to watch Him die on the cross  A pure and dignified young women, who reminds us that all our children belong to God

Modern Day Young Women  Young women who love their family and provide a godly home for them  Those who don’t let their families come between them and God, but use it as a way to serve the Lord  Pure and self controlled girls, even teenagers, who take a stand for decency and morality

Modern Day Young Women  Women who demonstrate the beauty and value of submission for service to God  Without such women we would not have preachers, elders, deacons, Bible school teachers and faithful Christians all over the world  God bless our younger women!
