28 Scholarship based on academic achievement non-repayable money based on merit the higher the value of the scholarship the more involved the application is

29 Bursary non repayable money based on financial need and achievement Awards cash or trophy usually funded by private foundations

30 Most applications ask for the following information: 1) Academics: good marks = money Need a credit history or official transcripts 2)Leadership Activities – community service volunteer work, team leader, school leader camp counselor (you don’t get paid) 3)Athletic – most Canadian schools don’t offer purely athletic scholarships 4) They are looking for well rounded students

35 Stay on top of deadlines for registration and scholarships U of A – most faculties are spring Apply right after 1 st term marks are in. MacEwan started taking applications Oct. 1 Concordia – spring deadlines NAIT – March 31 for some – need a career investigation for some programs Some scholarship deadlines are in the fall
