1 Kings: Ch 4 1-27 Details of the government of Solomon 1 Kings 4 29 God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. 30 Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite - wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.

1 Kings: Ch 4 1-27 Details of the government of Solomon 1 Kings 4 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. 33 He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. 34 From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.

Proverbs 21 19 Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife. Proverbs 27 15 A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping of a leaky roof in a rainstorm; 16 restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.

Proverbs 27 14 If anyone loudly blesses a neighbour early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse.

Proverbs 18 2 A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

Proverbs 17 22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 15 1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 11 12 Those who have no sense deride their neighbours, but those who have understanding hold their tongues.

Proverbs 18 24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 17 13 Those who conceal their sins do not prosper, but those who confess and renounce them find mercy.

Proverbs 1 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 2 3 if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, 5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 9 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 9 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Matthew 10 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

How can fearing God be a good thing? How can fearing God make us wise? What is the fear of God?

“To fear the Lord is to have profound reverence for Him, it means to be so overwhelmed with God’s beauty, holiness and greatness that we find ourselves speechless in adoration and passionate in removing from our lives anything that would disqualify us from walking in fellowship with Him.” James Ryle “To fear the Lord is to have profound reverence for Him, it means to be so overwhelmed with God’s beauty, holiness and greatness that we find ourselves speechless in adoration and passionate in removing from our lives anything that would disqualify us from walking in fellowship with Him.” James Ryle

Proverbs 22 4 Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches and honour and life.

1 John 4 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them

1 John 4 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.

Proverbs 16 6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD evil is avoided.

Proverbs 19 23 The fear of the LORD leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble.
