-. Offering the students strong background in General chemistry and its practical applications in industry and safety signs for all industrial processes. -introduce the basic concepts of general chemistry and periodic table - Introductive basic principles of the Gaseous State, the nature of gaseous state, the characteristics of an ideal gas. - Recognition of the Gas Laws, the combined gas law, using them in solving problems. - Identifying the molar volume concept, the molar mass of a gas and the density. - Recognition of Dalton’s Law, use it to solve problems involving mixtures of Gases. - Identifying the equilibrium system, the factors affecting the rate of chemical reaction, the law of mass action, the factors affecting the state of equilibrium. - Approaching reversible reactions, the factors affecting the rate of a chemical reaction. Carry out calculations for a reversible reaction to determine equilibrium constant. - Recognition of the Le Chatelier’s principle, carry out calculations related to chemical equations. --Recognition of types of solutions, the factors affecting the solubility. - Recognition of Fuels and combustion Aim of the course : -.

1.Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) Knowledge and UnderstandingDefine atoms and molecules Identify the properties of gases Explain the general gas equation Summarize the main factors affecting the rate of chemical reaction Define the law of mass action Define chemical equilibrium Explain the effect of catalyst and temperature on chemical equilibrium Summarize the different types of solution Explain the ideal and non ideal behavior of solutions Define the ioinic state and the effect of common ions. Describe the stages of water purification Identify the combustion process and effect of emissions on enviroment. Intellectual SkillsReport the general gas equation Calculate the partial pressure of gases Calculate the rate of diffusion of gases Calculate the equilibrium constant of different reactions Calculate the percentage dissociation of different reactions Detect the atoms, molocules, periodic table and important properties. Calculate the percentage composition by mass and mole for dry and wet products Select the suitable method for water purification according to the type of waste it contains Explain the corrosion and its effects on environment.

Professional and Practical Skills construct the chemical equilibrium constant both K p,K c and ioinic equilibrium constant for acid and base. Explain the partial pressure and the rate of diffusion of gases Describe the corrosion and its problems. Estimate the different types of liquid states. Explain the atoms, molecules, periodic table Distinguish the suitable method for water purification according to the type of waste it contains Calculate the actual air for combustion process and its environment impacts. General Skills Practice report writing skills Follow presentation skills Propose research skills

 Safety in Science labs& particularly chemistry labs is very important to prevent any disaster.  Safety signs are collection of public domain images.

 Do not bring any food or drink into the laboratory and do not eat, drink, or smoke there.  Do not smell or taste any chemicals or other lab samples for any reason.  Never work alone or unsupervised.  Wear the appropriate gloves, safety glasses or goggles, and a clean lab coat when handling chemical  Wash your hands before you exit the laboratory.
