Recording of 10/31/14 Demo Webinar ●Link is posted on https://ncedcloud.mcnc.org, see the NEWS section on the main page (lower right column)https://ncedcloud.mcnc.org ●Focuses on End-User Experience with the IAM service ○Summer workshops were focused on the administrator’s experience ●Examples with Application Access Interface (Kris Hawxhurst) ○Zscaler, Google Apps, etc. ○Uses Test System ●Opportunities for Local Use (Steve Thorpe / Steve Hatch) ○CDLR, IdAuto Software stack ●Integrating with Existing Web Pages (Steve Thorpe) ○Examples of integrating NCEdCloud Apps into existing web pages ○Uses Production System

DPI Change Order ●The NCEdCloud IAM Service was production-ready this past summer with a 4 letter + 4 number username (e.g. xzjt6273) ●Input from some LEAs was that use of the eScholar UID number would be easier on students and teachers who were already using this as the PowerSchool username ●Feedback to DPI from workshop participants seemed to support this ●A Change Order to convert the username to UID for students and staff was submitted in late summer ●The Change Order was recently approved

Status of Changes (1 of 2) ●Home Base Applications will be integrated in Summer 2015. This is mandatory (not opt-in), hence it is important to communicate within your LEA o Pearson OpenClass o Pearson PowerSchool o Pearson SchoolNet o NCEES o Learning Object Repository + NCEdCloud LMS Winner (Currently in RFP Process) ●These other Year 2 apps are still in the queue but Home Base was prioritized ahead of these for now o SAS EVAAS for K-12, Edmodo, Microsoft Office 365, mClass

Status of Changes (2 of 2) ●All Usernames will be converted to UID number (Completed) ●Password Expiration (every 90 days) for Employees and LEA Administrators will be turned on when Home Base Applications are integrated in Summer 2015 ●LEA Administrators will also use Multifactor Authentication (MFA) ●The Claim Account process will be left in place, but for Back-to- School 2015, teachers will provide initial passwords to students

Schedule ●Username conversion and validation will take place beginning at 3 PM Friday Nov 21 through Monday morning Nov 24 ●Beginning Monday, November 24 the IAM Service with the converted UID Username will be available to all users ●LEAs with CDLR implementations will have their CDLRs converted and validated over Nov 24-26 with Identity Automation working with each of the LEAs ●The “Go Live” date for integration of the IAM Service with Home Base applications is July 6, 2015.

LEA Planning (1 of 2) ●After November 24th LEAs may choose to adopt the IAM Service (with UID usernames) and also integrate the Target Applications currently available for use with the IAM Service 1.Google Apps for Education 2.MCNC Zscaler Web Security 3.CDLR (Central Directory Local Replica) 4.Follett Destiny 5.Discovery Education 6.Microsoft Student Advantage (early adopters) ●Given the scheduled integration date of Home Base applications with the IAM Service (July 6, 2015), LEAs will need to decide how and when to get user accounts distributed to their employees and students...

LEA Planning (2 of 2) ●November 24, 2014 through the end of the school year is the ideal window for LEAs to ensure that staff filling LEA Administrator, Data Auditor and Help Desk Roles, claim their accounts and become familiar with the IAM Service o These roles enable support within the LEA o Also allows you to vet your users’ data for accuracy o These are not tasks to postpone until the last minute ●LEAs will need to plan how students and employees launch the 4+ Home Base applications once they’ve been integrated with the IAM Service, and what Communication and Training might be needed o URLs (favorites) o Local LEA portal (if one exists) o IAM Service - Application Access “portal”
