2 America in the 40’s and 50’s  World War II ended in 1945.  Around 11 million American soldiers came home.  The Economy which was booming during the war, once again began to crash. There were more people than there were jobs. This created a lot of anxiety, as many people feared another depression.

3 America in the 40’s and 50’s  The Cold War began in 1947. The threat of a nuclear attack left many people on edge.  Instead of lockdown drills, schools would practice what to do in case of a Nuclear attack. The most common, was to hide under your desk.  The Civil Rights Movement was also beginning to pick up steam.

4 Family in the 40’s and 50’s There was pressure to be the perfect American family. Perception was everything! Shows like Leave it to Beaver were suppose to be an example of what a family should look like. Public Service Announcements or PSA’s would be shown in schools and on the television to teach “Good morals.”
