Team Gun Show Final Presentation December 1, 2004 Group Members: Nate Griggs Clay Hamlin Marc Manning Jon Megahy Van Vo Joel Williamson

Project Overview Problem Concept & Objectives Existing Product & Limitations Problem Statement & Constraints Design Partition Pair-wise Comparison Conceptual Design Prototype Review Conclusion Future Concepts

Problem Statement & Objectives Our Customer is a Sporting Event Promoter Repeatable Firing Mechanism for T-Shirt Gun to be used for promotional events Customer Needs Ability to fire at least 5 T-shirts before reloading More rapid loading/firing of T-shirts Less operation labor

Existing Product Limitations: Length of Loading Time Labor Intensive Loading

Existing Product Limitations: Only Capable of Single Shot Operation

Design Specifications & Constraints Safety Precautions allow for only design of the repeating modifications, not the firing assembly Specifications/Constraints Should attach to existing device Less than 4 feet in length Total weight should less than 35 lbs Operable by one person Rubber seals to handle pressure Cost effective

Design Partition 4 Main Sub-Systems Barrel Provides the means for directing t-shirt in a desired direction at high velocity Would most likely be a tube of some sort. Barrel housing / Slide Forms the “body” of the assembly Responsible for holding all of the other subsystems together Facilitates necessary movement of parts in the assembly

Design Partition (continued) 4 Main Sub-Systems (cont.) 5 Shot Queue Will allow for at least 5 t-shirts to be stored and subsequently fired in rapid succession Gun Rear Will contain the rear seal for the firing chamber along with the firing mechanism. Firing Mechanism will NOT be improved upon (commercially available); taken as a given

Conclusions Design vs. Prototype: Major problem with prototype is substitution of welds Prototype uses many material substitutions Repeatable Firing Mechanism for T-Shirt Gun to be used for promotional events Project Constraints: Safety Repeatable Firing Sealing Operation Ease Revolver Design is Best Solution for Criteria

Future Concepts Attach a Firing Mechanism Test Seals Test Launching Distance Test Operation Ease Pneumatic Indexing System Aesthetic Improvements Make Design more Robust for Mass Production/Easier Manufacturability
