4 You probably know quite a lot about hot, sandy deserts but did you know that there are actually two kinds of desert? There are hot deserts and there are cold deserts. Cold deserts are found close to the North and South Poles. The area between the North Pole ice cap and the forest is called the tundra. The tundra is a cold desert.
