15 Part II Features of Oral Interpretation I. Quickness, flexibility, perfection interpretation done not only word by word, accuracy and a decent at a fast speed sentence by sentence, but manner in idea exchanges according to hidden meanings II. The languages used should be simple in terms of both vocabulary and sentence structure; Sentences should remain short in length ( within 20 to 30 words in length)

17 A. When we are talking about things typical of Beijing, there are too many to mention: The big things include the Great Wall, and the small things like the compound courtyard. B. When talking about things typical of Beijing, we have too many to mention: we have places of major interest like the Great Wall, and tourist attractions such as the traditional single-story houses with rows of rooms around the 4 sides of a courtyard.

18 Part III Pronunciation and Intonation Pronunciation and intonation should be taken as the soul of the English language we have learned, and “SLOWLY, but SURELY” should be the motto for us to follow at the very beginning of our oral interpretation training.
