2 Terms Midpoint of a segment is the point that divides the segment into two congruent segments

3 Segment bisector is a point, ray, line, line segment, or plane that intersects the segment at its midpoint

4 Examples Open book to page 19. 3, 11

5 Midpoint Formula To find the midpoint, (an (x, y) point) add up the x’s and divide by 2, add up the y’s and divide by 2

6 Examples Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the segment with the given endpoints (3, 5) and (7, 13) (-8, -7) and (1, 5)

7 Distance Formula To find the distance between the two points, use the distance formula

8 Examples Find the length of the 2 segments AB A(0, 2) B(-3, 8)
DC C(-2, 2) D(0, -4)
