6 Additional Assessments 2014–15 The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Assessments for Identification of Gifted and Talented Students – SC Performance Tasks Assessments – Procuring a norm-referenced achievement test and an aptitude test for grade 2 census testing Kindergarten – Multiple bills are being considered that may mandate testing 4-year-old and/or 5-year-old kindergarten students. 6

7 Additional Assessments 2014–15 English Language Learners – Access for ELLs (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners) Developed by the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) All students in grades K-12 – Replaces the English Language Development Assessment (ELDA) – Includes an alternate assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities. 7

8 Additional Assessments 2014–15 Provisos as passed in the House; work is continuing in the Senate – Proviso 1A.19. states that PSAT/PLAN reimbursements shall resume in the current fiscal year. – Proviso 1A.29. (SDE-EIA: Assessments-Gifted & Talented, Advanced Placement, & International Baccalaureate Exams) Of the funds appropriated and/or authorized for assessment, up to $4,600,000 shall be used for assessments to determine eligibility of students for gifted and talented programs and for the cost of Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams. 8
