3. Main Points of Discussion There is no such thing as responsible or moderate use of marijuana, crack, cocaine, and heroin. Among those who try marijuana at age 14 or younger, 8.9% become dependent on illicit drugs as adults. Club drugs are being used by young adults at all night dance parties such as “raves” or “trances,” dance clubs and bars.

4. Topic #1: “Survey Finds Drug Use Dropping among U.S. Teens, Rising Among Young Adults.” * Cocaine use on the rise * The report also found drug use among 18-25 year olds rose 28% from 1997-1999 *Marijuana is the most popular drug among users of all ages

5. Marijuana The illegal drug industry recruits children from schoolyards to be users and sellers. The industry promote illegal use, abuse and addiction. The primary targets are high school students and younger.

6. Club Drugs MDMA (Ecstasy), GHB, Rohypnol, ketamine, methamphetamine, and LSD are some of the club or party drugs gaining popularity. NIDA supported research has shown that use of club drugs can cause serious health problems and, in some cases, even death.
