Lesson Six

3 Key Truth: Healthy pastors keep the temple of God strong.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

4 Reasons Why Physical Fitness is Important
1. We are made in God’s image as a TRI-UNITY. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.”…The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground [body] and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life [spirit], and the man became a living being [soul]. Genesis 1:26, 2:7

5 With your SOUL you relate to the world around you, the social world.
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 With your BODY you relate to the world beneath you, the physical world. With your SOUL you relate to the world around you, the social world. With your SPIRIT you relate to the world above you, the spiritual world.

6 When your body is right, you’re HEALTHY;.
When your soul is right, you’re HAPPY; When your spirit is right, you’re HOLY.

7 2. Practicing health and fitness is an act of WORSHIP.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1

8 3. You honor God when you follow a healthy PLAN of DIET and EXERCISE.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

9 4. Paying appropriate attention to your physical fitness adds to your WITNESS. Neglecting it TAKES AWAY from your witness. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

10 Three Steps to Maintaining Physical Fitness
Step One – Make a decision. Step Two – Follow a plan of action. Step Three – Ask for accountability.
