The garden ecosystem has three key components to it Producers Consumers Decomposers

The main producers in the garden are plants They are able to produce their own food from the sunlight

A producer is an organism that is self sufficient For example, a plant is a producer because it does not rely on other organisms to survive

Primary consumers: Butterflies, Bees, and caterpillars Secondary consumers: birds, snakes, and spiders

A consumer is an organism that needs other organisms to survive. Without other organisms there would be an imbalance in the food chain Consumer does not make its own food; it eats other organisms.

The decomposers consist of bacteria, fungi, worms, and insects

An organism that eats dead matter/other dead organisms. Without any dead organisms decomposers are nothing!

The basic abiotic factors for a garden are: Wind, Soil, Temperature, Sunlight, rain, water.

Abiotic factors can help your garden ecosystem Abiotic factors can also be extremely devastating to your garden ecosystem

Theres dozens of biotic factors to consider but, here are the few you will find in your own garden Birds, insects, bacteria, plants, and weeds.

Biotic factors can also be very productive Depending on how much you have of each can affect a garden dramatically If you have just enough the garden will function just fine in all of the areas it has.

Producers, consumers, and demoposers all need each other They follow a chain that would fall apart if one suddenly disappeared If there was no prodcuers the consumers would die off because they need to find food If there were no producers and consumers the decomposers would not be able to return nutrients back into the ground
