Porticos between the classrooms and the play area/ courtyard also provide shading for the classroom windows. Light wells centrally placed in classrooms provide optimum levels of day lighting. Special louvers are placed to filter this light. Open classroom designs are critical for orientations for learning environments. Light wells are placed intermittently, extending from the perimeter to the central stem of the building. There is an interstitial space provided above for use of centrally controlled heating, cooling, and air handling systems. This system is integrated with the naturally controlled environmental systems located on the building’s exterior.
