Prose Prompt Practice Recap the passage. What was going on? Share your thesis statements. Remember: it needs to hit on the ‘so what’ factor. Then, share the evidence you selected, and WHY it supports your thesis, and relates to your ‘so what’ aspect.

Quick Recap Tone: Author/narrator’s attitude towards the subject and/or audience. Point of View: The mode of narration that an author employs to let the readers “hear” and “see” what takes place in a story, poem, essay etc. Writers use a point of view to express effectively what they want to convey to their readers. Irony: Irony is a figure of speech in which words are used in such a way that their intended meaning is different from the actual meaning of the words. It may also be a situation that may end up in quite a different way than what is generally anticipated. (Verbal, Situational, Dramatic)

Belinda Read the passage, and complete the close reading worksheets. When you are done, on a separate sheet of paper, write a brief introduction and thesis statement, and 1 body paragraph.
