CONFESSIONAL Evangelical - Emphasis on Personal Conversion (“New Birth”) - Renewal movement - Subjective experience - Individual’s direct access to God Confessional - Emphasis on participation in church’s corporate worship and liturgy. - Creeds and confessions - Authority of clerical office

CONFESSIONAL Evangelical - “Any Protestant that emphasizes the subjective and ethical aspects of Christianity, rather than it’s official and churchly characteristics.” p257 Confessional - Catholics, Lutherans, German Reformed, Dutch Reformed, Old Side Presbyterians. -Blurry lines.

12 WHY IS EVANGELICALISM IMPORTANT? - “Evangelicals now constitute the most active component of religious life in North America.” – historian Mark Noll - Populist evangelicalism is the fastest-growing Christian sect in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
