2 What is IRP? International Registration Plan (IRP) is a registration reciprocity agreement between: –48 contiguous United States –District of Columbia –10 provinces in Canada

11 Member Jurisdiction Responsibilities Administrative 1.Provide base license plate 2.Single registration cab card 3.Inter- and intra-state operations 4.Maintain uniformity

12 Member Jurisdiction Responsibilities Administrative 5. Calculate and collect all IRP fees for base-jurisdiction carriers 6. Disburse fees within 30-days 7. Notify the IRP Repository of changes 8. Assist other member jurisdictions

13 Member Jurisdiction Responsibilities Audit 1.Provide audit findings to the registrant and member jurisdictions 2.Adhere to the Audit Procedures Manual 3.Audit 3% of annually renewed fleets

14 Member Jurisdiction Responsibilities Enforcement 1.Grace period for new member jurisdictions 2.Notify law enforcement of policies and changes 3.Allow inter- or intra- state operation for properly registered vehicles

15 Member Jurisdiction Responsibilities Enforcement 4. List of restricted plates to Repository 5. Advise member jurisdictions and enforcement personnel of extensions of renewal periods

17 Credentials The Plate shall be identified by having the word “Apportioned”, “APP,” or “PRP” and the name of the Base Jurisdiction

19 Credentials Temporary Evidence of Apportion Registration Recognized by other member jurisdictions Specify effective and expiration dates Indicate vehicle weight May be issued by electronic means if verifiable by law enforcement
