Survey Data  A total of 341 teachers responded to the survey  If a teacher voted twice, KM was able to de-duplicate the data set so that only their most recent response was counted  79 teachers voted twice

Stick with Classic or Move to Option A/B  26% (89) teachers said they wanted to move to Option A or B  74% (252) teachers said they wanted to stay with the Current Classic  6 blanks

If the members determine that they would prefer to move to one of the two options, we will need to select one. After reviewing the details of Option A and Option B, which would you prefer to implement?  Of the 252 members who want to stick with Current Classic  175 (69%) of them voted to abstain from answering this question  31 (12%) voted for Option A  41 (16%) voted for Option B

Some reasons for wanting to stay with Current Classic Eval Score transfer option is a plus Other options do not address sustainability issue. ( More work/more stress) Lesson plan should not be done twice per year or we should keep lesson plan as is Tier 2 – don’t like Unscheduled – don’t like Need more teacher input during the recommendation phase. Entry point for Tier 2 should be lower

 AMU is continuing to address issues around safety, evaluation, and school leadership at Locke.  Members and administrators are often not on the same page when it comes to implementing polices and practices around such issues.

 The counselor evaluation pilot will continue next year with the same schools that piloted this year.  AMU/management have put together a QIT to work on improving the current counselor evaluation until a new one is entirely implemented.

 April minutes passed.

 AMU Dues Increase- please see accompany ppt.

 The benefits committee made their recommendation to the negotiating teams  There are several options on the table that we feel will provide our members with quality healthcare.

Locke B: Teacher evaluation (Level 2 response- basically “we hear your concerns but we are not changing any scores”) Moving on to Level 3 Animo Pat Brown- teacher received a written warning for refusing to cover during her prep period Moving on to Level 2

New Grievances (Informal) ARB: Formal observation – Not following timeline/changing the meeting times – Telling teacher that AP classes will not be observed (Potential) ARB: teaching matrix concern – Experienced teachers are asked to take on 3-4 preps (lack of teacher retention) – Agreed upon matrix is changed over the summer

VI. Work year and Hours of Employment We have come to a conceptual agreement to use the grievance settlement language from the Leadership and Locke work day grievances for start time.  “Per Locke’s Safe & Civil Committee, GDPS expects that teachers’ classroom doors are open to meet and greet students five minutes before class instruction time is scheduled to begin to promote a positive school culture.”  Still working on TA language.  In order to minimize after school meetings, admin will be able to send information electronically if they choose to.  GDPS acknowledges that the contract language allows for members to leave campus when the student day is done on minimum days so long as there are no other contractual obligations. ( PD/staff meetings etc.)

VI - Work Year & Hours of Employment We have come to a conceptual agreement to use the grievance settlement language from the Leadership and Locke work day grievances for start time. – “Per Locke’s Safe & Civil Committee, GDPS expects that teachers’ classroom doors are open to meet and greet students five minutes before class instruction time is scheduled to begin to promote a positive school culture.” – Still working on TA language. In order to minimize after school meetings, admin will be able to send information electronically if they choose to. GDPS agreed to let admin know that teachers can leave at the end of the student day on minimum days unless they have a meeting or some other similar obligation.

XXVII - Benefits Benefits Committee presented recommendations. Negotiations are ongoing. AMU is advocating for a 100% employer-paid option that is as good or better than the full HMO we have this year, as well as other choices for members who choose to pay a buy up. Member priorities in the form of survey data will help to inform our negotiations

XXV - Personal Necessity GDPS is concerned about a spike in teacher absences on the days before and after holidays. To help promote attendance on these days, GDPS has suggested piloting an incentive system at a few school sites during the 2015-2016 school year. The incentive system will not further limit teachers’ ability to take personal days when they need them. Discussion about this plan will be ongoing in upcoming bargaining sessions. We will have more details then.

Alliance Guest  Teachers Elana Goldbaum and Asharg Molla from The Alliance came to speak to the site rep council about some of the challenges they have faced working for The Alliance and their reasons for wanting to unionize.  Alliance officials have worked to block organizing efforts of its teachers.  AMU is committed to supporting their efforts to organize and will be sending a letter of support  You can learn more about Alliance Educators United here: http://www.allianceeducators.com/ http://www.allianceeducators.com/
