AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY@Lecce: status Auger Lecce Meeting, 24-03-2011

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 Power Detector(ZX47-60-S+) Time response Signal Pulse Width from 10 nsec to 200 nsec 2 different frequencies (1.7 GHz and 2.6 GHz) INPUT Signal OUTPUT Signal ( PeakToPeak measure) The power detector seems fully efficient only for signals having a pulse > 100 nsec A similar temporal behaviour on rise/fall. Rise Time > then specifications AMY- Time Response of Power Detector (a reminder from last meeting)

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY- Power Detector Time response- before and after Modifications PD modified The AD8318, as used in ( ZX47-60-S+) has an external capacitor connected to CLPF (loop filter capacitor) to provide additional filtering for VOUT. However, using the CLPF capacitor slows the response time. For applications requiring maximum RF burst detection capability, the CLPF pin should be left unconnected.

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 Power Detector(ZX47-60-S+) Time response Fall time for a signal level of XX% around the half amplitude: 80% from 10% to 90% 70% from 15% to 85% ….. 10% from 45% to 55% XX % TT TT TT

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY- Power Detector Linearity Before and after Mods. noise level PD modified Power Detector(ZX47-60-S+) Linearity

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY- Power Detector Linearity Before and after Mods. Power Detector(ZX47-60-S+)

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY- Power Detector Linearity of Time Response Power Detector(ZX47- 60-S+)

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY- Power Detector (ZX47-60-S+) a bit more mods to do… Power Detector(ZX47-60-S+) There is a 10 Ω internal resistor in series with the output driver. Because of this resistor, it is necessary to add an external 40 Ω back-terminating resistor in series with the output when driving a 50 Ω load. Place the back-terminating resistor close to the VOUT pin. The AD8318 has the drive capability to drive a 50 Ω load at the end of a coaxial cable or transmission line when back terminated READY TO TEST!

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY-Characterization of PD(ZX47-60-S+) Fall Time Fall time for a signal level of XX% around the half amplitude: 80% from 10% to 90% 70% from 15% to 85% ….. 10% from 45% to 55% XX % TT TT Quite stable answer from the 3 power detectors

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY-Characterization of PD(ZX47-60-S+) Time Response Quite stable answer from the 3 power detectors

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 noise level AMY-Characterization of PD(ZX47-60-S+) Linearity Quite stable answer from the 3 power detectors

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 AMY-Characterization of PD(ZX47-60-S+) Linearity Quite stable answer from the 3 power detectors

AMY Meeting. 24 Mar 2011 Power Detectors. 2 more from AD with home made board (not working).. Pietro brain storming… Time response – Investigating the 3 Power Detectors PD(ZX47-60-S+) now in the lab, mods in the board for the time response investigation ! OnGoing FADC-> ordered ! More LNBF on different bands (C, Ku). Conclusion and outlook TO DO A bit more to do: for time time response investigation- Switch on the LNBF Antenna for S Band (to be finalized) Linearity of PowerDetector (more to do?) Power Supply (for the AMY test Beam) Personal Comment We are dealing with Power Detector quite smoothly now …. It is hard to believe we can reach few nsec time response, but it is also hard to believe that we can reach an high gain without them… -60 dBm is 0.225 mV More work to be done on feeds and antennas.
