Instructions for using this template. Remember this is Jeopardy, so where I have written “Answer” this is the prompt the students will see, and where I have “Question” should be the student’s response. To enter your questions and answers, click once on the text on the slide, then highlight and just type over what’s there to replace it. If you hit Delete or Backspace, it sometimes makes the text box disappear. When clicking on the slide to move to the next appropriate slide, be sure you see the hand, not the arrow. (If you put your cursor over a text box, it will be an arrow and WILL NOT take you to the right location.)

Choose a category. You will be given the answer. You must give the correct question. Click to begin.

What is a natural structure.

Things with a definite size or shape that serve a definite function

What is a structure.

A fishing net is an example of this.

What is manufactured structure.

A beaver dam is an example of this structure.

What is a mass structure.

An egg carton is an example of this structure.

What is a shell structure.

The study of beauty in art and nature.

What is aesthetics.

Builder build structures with this to ensure it has extra strength than required.

What is a margin of safety.

Reinforced concrete is an example of this.

What is composite material.

Melting pieces of the same material together.

What is welding.

These allow movement in a structure.

What is mobile joints.

This is measured in kilograms.

What is mass.

Stresses such as pushes or pulls.

What is a force.

This measures gravitational force between to objects.

What is weight.

This picture uses arrows to show forces.

What is a force diagram.

We measure force using this.

What is a force meter (newtons).

Stresses acting form the outside.

What is external forces.

The change in size or shape of a structure.

What is deformation.

Changing or non permanent force acting on a structure.

What is a live load

Stretching a material by pulling the ends apart.

What is tension.

Measurement of the largest twisting force a material can stand.

What is torsion strength.

A lever consists of an arm and rests on this.

What is a fulcrum.

A loss of strength in metal materials.

What is metal fatigue.

Bridges often use this design for strength and function.

What is a cantilever

The point where all of the gravitational forces of an object act.

What is center of gravity.

These are used in foundations of homes.

What are footings.

Make your wager

These use the principle of spin stabilization.

What are gyroscopes.
