(Rev 8:6-12) And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

NOTESNOTES  The 1 st 4 trumpets are directed against the things of Nature. The vegetation (trees) The sea (Whales, Seals ) The rivers (water and fish ) The Earths light sources  The last 3 trumpets are directed against Man The attack of the locusts

E. The 5th trumpet

I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: (Rev 9:1) And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. (Rev 9:2) And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

NOTESNOTES  We can see here that the “Star” that falls from heaven is not a real star, like our Sun.  We can also see that this star is not like the burning mountain in the 2 nd trumpet, or the star that fell in and 3 rd trumpet. Those trumpets use the word “as”.  John in the 5 th trumpet use the pronoun “him” to refer to the star.  The star in the 5 th trumpet preforms actions that are done by an organism not an object

morning stars sang together sons of God (Job 38:7) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? How art thou fallen from heavenO Lucifer, son of the morning (Isa 14:12) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

(Luk 10:18) And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. How art thou fallen from heaven (Isa 14:12) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

NOTESNOTES  We can compare scripture with scripture and see some things that would apply to Satan. 1.Star 2.Fallen 3.From Heaven to Earth  The other thing to take into account is the ½ way point of the tribulation is at this point…

NOTESNOTES  What we can find out is that at 42 mouths, 1260 day, or 3 ½ years there is someone coming up and there is some one coming down  We also know that at this time is when the Anti Christ will be kill in by a deadly head wound

NOTESNOTES  The other possibility is that it is Jesus 1.Star

the bright and morning star (Rev 22:16) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. the day star (2Pe 1:19) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

there shall come a Star out of Jacob (Num 24:17) I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. the morning star (Rev 2:26-28) And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:… And I will give him the morning star.

NOTESNOTES  The other possibility is that it is Jesus 1.Star 2.Keys

the keys of hell and of death (Rev 1:18) I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. having the key of the bottomless pit (Rev 20:1-3) And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

(Jud 1:9) Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

(Mat 8:28) And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. art thou come hither to torment us before the time? (Mat 8:29) And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

(Luk 8:30) And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. deep (Luk 8:31) And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

(Rev 9:1) And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. (Rev 9:2) And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

NOTESNOTES  Locust in the Bible were greatly feared because of the devastation to the crops and trees that they easily strip.  Locust are a form of Judgment that comes on Nations and man for there sin and disobedience  Locusts sometimes move in vast swarms and can easily strip away all the crops. It is reported that from 1866 to 1869, in the country of Algiers on the Mediterranean Sea, over 200,000 people died from the result of famine from a locust plague. More recently, in June of 1993, locusts were devouring the harvests of Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, and Djibouti.

NOTESNOTES  Nebraska locust of 1875 “According to the first-hand account of A. L. Child transcribed by Riley et al. (1880), a swarm of Rocky Mountain locusts passed over Plattsmouth, Nebraska, in 1875. By timing the rate of movement as the insects streamed overhead for 5 days and by telegraphing to surrounding towns, he was able to estimate that the swarm was 1,800 miles long and at least 110 miles wide. Based on his information, this swarm covered a swath equal to the combined areas of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont “

Attack green plants Killed by smoke Can be killed No stinger No King (Proverbs 30:27) Attack men Arise out of the smoke Are invincible They sting like scorpions Have a king over them

Joel 1 and 2

whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, (Joe 1:6) For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen (Joe 2:3-5) A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

people shall be much pained when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thiefThe earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining (Joe 2:6-10) Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

1. The place of the locusts

(Rev 9:1) And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. bottomless pit; great furnace (Rev 9:2) And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

NOTESNOTES  These locust come up out of a place called the Bottomless pit.  This place is located in the center of the Earth according to the Bible.  According to Scientist the center of the Earth is a rolling, tumbling ball of hot liquid magma  When there is an volcano this hot magma along with smoke is what comes out.

(Isa 14:9) Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. sides of the pit (Isa 14:15) Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

(Num 16:30-33) But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

(Luk 16:22-26) And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

(Mat 12:40) For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Eph 4:8) Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) (1Pe 3:18-19) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

(Jud 1:6) And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

2. The pain of the locusts

as (Rev 9:5) And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. (Rev 9:6) And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

NOTESNOTES  These locust have the stinging power of that of a earthly scorpion.  In Bible time, it was said that a Roman soldier was so well trained, that he could endure pain beyond human understanding.  If these soldiers were stung by a scorpion in the middle east they were said to have screamed like a women

NOTESNOTES  This sting is not for a few moments or days but for 5 months  During this time men will be in so much pain they will attempt suicide. But they will not be successful.  Suicide by… Gun Wrist Stabbing Pills

NOTESNOTES  This 5 months will be like what hell will be for an eternity.  5 months is what the time frame of the flood  5 moths is the life span of a locust (May to September)

3. The parameters of the locusts

it was commanded them should not hurt the grass but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads (Rev 9:4) And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. should not kill them be tormented five months (Rev 9:5) And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

NOTESNOTES  These locust are forbidden to touch the plant life, or the 144,000 Jews  Their sting is very powerful, but cannot cause death.

4. The portrait of the locusts

like aslike as as as as as like (Rev 9:7-10) And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

NOTESNOTES  We don’t know for certain what these creatures are. They are a composite of other animals for sure.  We need to remember that John is a 1 st century man, describing things in the 21 st century, with a 1 st vocabulary.  Many people try to imply that these a symbolic of war machine of the 21 century…

NOTESNOTES The helicopters are called "locusts", because they have a body shape like locusts, they fly erratically, the fly in packs, and they can land and take off in fields. This is also a good indication that the helicopters are painted military green or camouflaged. They kick up dust as they fly and give off smoke as they shoot, and their targets explode and give off smoke, "and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth" (Revelation 9:2-3). Their armor is indicated by their "breastplates of iron" (Revelation 9:9). 9:8).

NOTESNOTES The pilot in the front window is indicated by "their faces were as the faces of men" (Revelation 9:7). The great roar of the engines and rotating blades is indicated by " the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle" (Revelation 9:9). The whirling blades are indicated by "they had hair as the hair of women" (Revelation 9:8). A helicopter's tail goes straight out and then has a vertical tail fin, "they had tails like unto scorpions" (Revelation 9:10). They are equipped with guns and missiles "and there were stings in their tails" (Revelation 9:10).

NOTESNOTES The rotor rods or blade supports are highlighted with gold "on their heads were as it were crowns like gold" (Revelation 9:7). As is typical for military craft, the 'face' of the helicopters is painted with a ferocious jaw, "their teeth were as the teeth of lions" (Revelation 9:8). My problem is that this don't line up in all points and these come up out of the bottomless pit (demons)

5. The primary of the locust

angel of the bottomless pit Abaddon Apollyon (Rev 9:11) And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

NOTESNOTES  These locusts have a leader unlike the one in Proverbs.  He is there king and he is the angel of over the bottom less pit.  His name means death and destroyer  We already saw him in the 4th horsemen
