2 Not only by computers, e-mail and social media (FaceBook, Twitter), but also ”traditional” equipments, tools and ”channels” have new possibilities Radio recording, editing and broadcasting, audio programmes in Internet Video cameras, editing and presenting Digicamera, still photos, New information technique IT

3 Listening together in houses, at neighbour´s or ”whole village” (still real many villages in South) Recording (new) music, copies by teens Recording stories or folk music to scientific purposes (ethnographic) or promoting historical heritage (archive, museo) Radioamateurs (morse, AM) Backgroud and roots of radio and recording

4 Photo camera in family and village photographer Film-camera as a hobby Rounding moviefilm presenters, cinema theatres Watching TV together at home, at neighbour´s or ”whole village” (still real many villages in South) Backgroud and roots of camera, film and TV

5 New recorders are small and easy to use, and the quality of sound is high and enough to edit for example ZOOM H-2 Portable Surround Sound Recorder (Price about 160-170 EUR) Editing is possible in computer and laptop with free programs Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds Radio recording and editing

9 Traditional tv-programmes (news, documents, fictio) are depending on the situation and politics of cable-tv and other commercial media owners Internet Your own Internet sites can have audio and video (clic) YouTube (and others) Community Media Community-TV, our own videoprogram can be part of whole program carta, unique program or we can have for example 10 minutes or 60 minutes once a week Presenting own programs in media

10 Young make interviews of older people (recording or video), for example How was the life of the village before o For example: work, house live, free time, culture, dancing, music, amusements, school o Also separate several decennaries How people felt some general historical phenomens Group discussings dealing former times (recording or video) - older people group OR young and old people together Ways to use 1: Between Young and Older people

11 Young people can also continue with material and edit recorded material to shorter programs present programs in media (Internet, Community media) or ”live cinema” in village party (with dataprojector) Editing work can be done also together with some older people, those who are telling the stories Young and older people can also do together more, carry out the planning and also realisation of the project (and evaluation ) Ways to use 1: Between Young and Older people

12 It’s possible to learn how to use recorders and cameras and also editing programmes It’s possible to make recordings and videos before editing anything It’s very useful to record and save both present living and happenings and also stories about old times To record ”raw material” to archive Ways to use 2: Older people themselves together

13 History and future are made similiary now Theme happenings – festival, weekend, evening Could theme be decennies? 60’s, 70’s, 80’s - 90’s Or something else, construction/buildings, education… Pieces of self made radio/video programmes could be shown then And arrange new live-discussions, witch can also record by video or audio recorder Ways to use 3: All people together

14 Co-operation between villages visits and visitors Presentations of short video/audio in common live happenings Discussion the same experienges, comparison Also in Internet Co-operation inside and between areas Ways to use 3: All people together

15 Can audio/video recording and editing activities help find common language and new discusion between age groups (young and older people)? Could the 3rd age -people find themselves new activities with audio/video recording and editation, too? Could it be possible to express better the needs of rural areas using also audio/video programmes in Internet and Community media and in real life meetings? Summary questions

16 Is it possible get school and teachers with, could it do in the name of media education? How can adult learning institutions and organisations support older people in use of IT, audio, video and social media? What kind of experiences have we, our learning partnership project?
