3 Thirsty? T HE P EOPLE ! Hosea “salvation” Gomer “complete” Jezreel “God scatters” Lo-Ruhamah “not loved” Lo-Ammi “not my people”

4 Thirsty? A G OOD A DULT R EAD ! God is a God of steadfast love. Hosea 13:9 “You are destroyed, O Israel, because you are against me, against your helper.” Turning away from God has consequence and eventually God will allow those consequences into your life.

5 Thirsty? G OMER W ALKED A WAY A ND H OSEA F OUND H ER

6 Thirsty? H OSEA 14 ON P AGE 1410 Hos 14:1 Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God. Your sins have been your downfall! 2 Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.

7 Thirsty? H OSEA 14:3 3 Assyria cannot save us; we will not mount war-horses. We will never again say ‘Our gods’ to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion.”

8 Thirsty? H OSEA 14:4-8 4 “I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them. 5 I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will send down his roots; 6 his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon. 7 Men will dwell again in his shade. He will flourish like the grain. He will blossom like a vine, and his fame will be like the wine from Lebanon. 8 O Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? I will answer him and care for him. I am like a green pine tree; your fruitfulness comes from me.”

10 Thirsty? H OSEA 14:9 9 Who is wise? He will realize these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.

11 Thirsty? 10 F ATHER ’ S D AY L ESSONS FROM H OSEA 1. Listen to God with a heart of obedience because this impacts your family. 2. God’s plan is to commit completely to our family. 3. Show the example of going to God during the good times and the tough times.

12 Thirsty? 10 F ATHER ’ S D AY L ESSONS FROM H OSEA 4. Learn to love your wife as God loves her not as you want her to be. 5. There is power in names and name calling. As a father you be the encourager of the family. 6. Be empowered by the eternal goal of raising children who faithfully serve God out of a mature faith that developed in your care. Your family’s spiritual health is the most important aspect to focus on do not get distracted!

13 Thirsty? 7. Fragments and division happen in the family; be a peacemaker. 8. God wants to lead your family through you. Surrender to his guidance and be a man of His word directed by the Holy Spirit. 9. Let God love you with His steadfast love and you will show it to others. 10. Today is the day to be faithful to God and make the relationships that you have the healthiest that they can be. The past is the past so offer God the present and the future.

14 Thirsty? T HANK Y OU ! Thank you heavenly Father for the calling and empowerment to be your object lessons. May our families bring you the praise and glory you are due.
