Checking to See if an Answer is Reasonable by Comparing the Numerator to the Denominator If the numerator is less than half the denominator, the decimal should be less than 0.5. If the numerator is more than half the denominator, the decimal should be more than 0.5. If the numerator is greater than the denominator, the decimal should be greater than 1. If the numerator is less than the denominator, the decimal should be less than 1.
