2 Can you identify some people who made an impact on your life? In what ways did they impress you? To what extent have you incorporated the qualities you admired into your own life?

4 What did Jesus know about himself? Jesus was quite clear about his relationship with the Father and why he had come into the world. Can you think of any other passages where Jesus speaks of this relationship or purpose. What does the passage say about Jesus’ love? In what way is the feet washing a demonstration of Jesus’ love? Can you think of other passages where Jesus shows his love for the disciples. What are the implications of this for Christian leadership? List at least three lessons

5 Jesus knew he had come from God. Jesus knew that his time had come. Jesus loved his disciples completely and unconditionally. Washing the feet shows that he was prepared to do anything on their behalf. His love is also shown by His protection of them when the soldiers came to arrest him. The incident shows that Christian leadership is exactly the opposite of worldly leadership. It is about love, service and sacrifice.

9 Assignment 3 Write a personal mission statement and share it with your mentor. You may not be able to do this immediately but work on it and use it as the basis on which you intend to run your life.
