8. Migration Migration is the movement of people from one place to another. The movement may be just around a corner to a better house. How many of you have ever moved house? It may be from one part of the country to another in search of a job.

9. For many people country areas have very little to offer so they move to the towns and cities. This is called rural to urban migration

10. OR For many people a move to a different country holds many attractions. This is called international migration.

11. Immigration is the migration of people into an area. Emigration is the migration of people out of an area.

13. Immigration to Northern Ireland Since 2004 lots of people from countries such as Poland and Lithuania have come to work in Northern Ireland. It is thought that Eastern European workers make up about 4% of Northern Ireland’s Population.

14. Why do people migrate? People migrate for two reasons: 1.To get away from things that they do not like. These are known as push factors. 2.People are attracted to things that they do like. These are called pull factors.
