10 doc.: IEEE 802.11-02/743r0 Submission November 2002 Godfrey, IntersilSlide 10 Windows NT/2000/XP Users You cannot log on as yourself in your LAN domain and get access Method 1: –Go to Passwords and Users in Control Panel and set up a new persona with access to only your computer (and set its password) –Log out and back in as the new persona –Use Find files, folders…. to find computer –Search for \\802-11-server or \\802-15-server Method 2: –From command line: net use \\802-11-server /user:guest "" –After this network browsing, etc will work Method 3: –Right click "My Computer", -> map network drive, at editbox Folder: \\802-11-server\documents and/or \\802-11-server\802.11 –Select "connect using different username and password. In dialog set username as guest, password is blank. Select ok, select finish on map network drive dialog. –This information is not remembered so will need to be done on each boot of the machine.

If your start menu says “Log Off …” you will not be able to connect. It should show “Log Off ” –From Windows Explorer, options are Browse for 802-11-server or NEPTUNE in workgroup IEEE802 in your “Network Neighborhood” Use “Find Computer” to find \\802-11-server or \\NEPTUNE Use Tools / Map Network Drive –Map drives to \\802-11-server\802.11 and \\802-11-server\Documents

Hopefully that will enable PPTP and IPSEC VPNs.
