1 Asia Pacific Regional Update (Q3-Q4 2012 and 2013) Regional Representative for Asia, Pacific Ilya Smirnov

2 The Asia Pacific region has partners in 30 countries: 25 full members and 9 associate members. CHI welcomed Vanuatu Youthline and Child Helpline Aghanistan as full members. CHI welcomes the Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation in Fiji and the Child Rights Defenders League in Kyrgyz Republic as associate members.

3 From Asia Pacific there were 22 participants from 16 countries International Consultation, Durban, South Africa

4 Key Decisions by the General Assembly (International Consultation) Work with communications sector to ensure that children can access child helplines, through preferred means of communication, whether using traditional or contemporary technologies Increase of membership fee from €100 to €125 with a waiver scheme instituted for child helplines under severe financial constraints The Durban Resolutions were adopted

5 Update from the Secretariat Youth Advisory Council Launch of “Child Helplines in Emergencies Manual” New Technologies Advisory Council meeting (April 2013) PSP Update is available herehere

6 The year 2013 marks the tenth year of data sharing – “10 Years of Child Helpline Data” Twenty-four (24) members in 9 countries were included in the analysis for the 10 year publication To celebrate its 10th year anniversary CHI has organised five Policy Dialogues and a Global Policy Dialogue

7 20 November 2012: CWIN-Nepal celebrated its 25 th Anniversary and launched the “Integrated Adolescent Girls’ Network”, with the objective to identify issues of adolescence, to think about the right direction and to advocate for child-friendly programmes and projects.

12 Madadgaar Pakistan Workshop on gender based violence (May 2013) Finalist to the Conn@ctNow! Award with Combating Cyber Crime Project (May 2013) Official launch of 1098 (September 2013)

13 Kazakhstan: The National helpline for children and youth "150"celebrated its 5th anniversary Kick-off Access, Service and Knowledge Programme to Sexual and reproductive Health (ASK): Indonesia and Pakistan Main goals: enhance the uptake of SRH services by young people; remove the barriers that young people face in taking up SRH services. Target group: young people in the age group 10-24 years, including underserved groups

14 Regional Advocacy ASEAN: CHI was invited as keynote speaker for 8th Senior Officials Meeting of Social Welfare and Development (SOMSWD) And Meeting of Ministers of Social Welfare and Development, in Cambodia SAIEVAC: CHI and its members attended the 3rd Technical Consultation On Eliminating Harmful Practices Affecting Children Based on Tradition, Culture, Religion and Superstition in Bhutan.
