Preparing Ourselves For Evangelism

Outline Prayer Godly Living Love

Outline Prayer Godly Living Love

Prayer Remember, growth always comes from God (1 Cor. 3:6-7) We too often rely on tactics, talent and ability We are God’s partners in evangelism (1 Cor. 3:9)

What Should We Pray For?

Prayer That we may walk worthily, bear fruit, and please God (Col. 1:9-12) Paul urged brethren to pray for open doors (Col. 4:2-3) That we may speak so others understand (Col. 4:4-6)

Prayer That we may speak boldly (Eph. 6:19-20) That we speak with love & gentleness (Eph. 4:15, 1 Pet. 3:15) “Who is adequate for these things?” (2 Cor. 2:14-16)

Prayer What an awesome responsibility! Pray for God’s help. But God invites us to ask for wisdom (James 1:5-8) Prayer is no substitute for Bible study (2 Tim. 2:15)

Are We Talking With God About Evangelism?

Outline Prayer Godly Living Love

Godly Living Godliness is linked to evangelism (Matt. 5:16) God’s work requires total dedication (Rom. 12:1) 1st temptation: conformation (Romans 12:2) 2nd Temptation: Isolation (Phil 2:15-16a)

Godly Living Your influence vs “the pulpit” Souls can be lost by our behavior (Rom. 2:22-24, Eph. 5:3) Souls can be won by our behavior (1 Pet. 3:1-4, Titus 2:1-10)

If Not, Then We’re Not Helping! “Do Others See Christ Living In Me?”

Outline Prayer Godly Living Love

An old command (Matt. 22:36-40) And a new command (John 13:34-35) “even as I have loved you” (John 15:13) Jesus died for the ungodly and His enemies (Romans 5:6-10)

How Often Do Strangers Experience Our Love For Them? Do we Have The Same Love For All People?

Love Hospitality means “love to strangers” - φιλοξενία (Luke 14:12-14) Every Christian is commanded to be hospitable (Rom. 12:9,13, Heb. 13:1-2) Where can we find these opportunities? (James 2:1-5)

“There are broken people at our jobs, in our schools, in our communities. We interact with them every day. We pass by souls struggling with sin, who are pained by guilt, who are craving love and attention, who are crying out for someone to help. What are we doing? Are they seeing the compassion of Jesus in us? Or are they only seeing judgment or callous indifference (James 2:1-17)?” --David Maxson

In Closing There’s no easy way to win the lost It cost Jesus everything Why should we think it would cost us nothing? Successful evangelism requires fervent prayer, godly living, and self-sacrificing love for the souls of others.
