1/7/13 Stds: 3 (Conservation of Mass & Stoichiometry) OBJECTIVES: Mem Ions 4 (coming Fri) - what will be on it (show where). New program to encourage doing homework every day (see next 2 pages). Be able to use "Chemical Reactions" Tutorial from ChemThink to help w HW, using candy & tooth pics. DO NOW: 1. Mix 2 x 3 from Solubility Lab Data Sheet (see today's handout), write skeleton equation, balance it, and tell what type of reaction it is. HOMEWORK: 1. Complete all equations for Row 2 (10 possible reactions) of Solubility Lab Data Sheet, write skeleton equations, balance them, and give reaction type. (5 pts) Std 3 (Turn in tomorrow before lab). BASKET: NONE Lab coming tomorrow

Dear: ____________________________ Date:_____________ Regarding Mr. Wigger's Chem. Assignment:_____________________________________ (assignment name) That was: STAMPED TURNED-IN / CW HW Your student ______________________________ did not do the assignment above that was due (circle one - M T W T F) __________________. (date due) I am concerned, as I am sure you are, that this behavior will make it almost impossible to pass my Chemistry class. Will you please remove a “favorite” activity from your student daily that will be difficult for your student to do without. I suggest one of the following: one lost meal daily, loss of cell phone for 1 week, a party that he/she will not be allowed to attend. The point is that your student will place more importance on the school work if your student knows there are consequences to his/her behavior. Please sign below and let me know what you have decided your student’s short term consequence (no longer than 1 week) should be. ________________________________ ________________________________________ (parent/guardian signature) (consequence)

If parent letter not returned within one day, I will call your home to speak with your parents regarding: a. the letter they should have received from you b. the homework that was not done c. why you cannot pass my class without doing homework d. if they didn't get the letter, discuss consequences and/or schedule a parent conference For those of you with exceptionally heavy schedules, y ou must come to me in advance and let me know why you need an extra day or two to complete an assignment.

At the end of stamping each day, anyone who did not complete their homework, comes to front of class for their letter home. If you don't do your homework and fail to come up for your parent letter, will get 200 sentences to write when I realize you have missed picking up your letter.

What to keep: a. Stamp section: 3 printouts, new Notebook Grading Sheet, and new Stamp Sheet b. all papers from MISC section If you are new to my class, you need for Wed to start your notebook: a. 3-ring binder, 1.5" thick rings b. 15 dividers Notebooks for 2nd Semester Course Requirements Student Safety Contract Acceptable Use Policy
