4 Requirements Common Requirements Degree Level- High school diploma is standard, but some employers prefer formal training Degree Fields-Arboriculture Certification- Voluntary certifications are available in safety and arboriculture Experience-1-2 years of grounds maintenance experience Key skills- Verbal and written communication, self-motivation Technical Skills- Operate boom trucks, chainsaws, saws, shredding equipment, pruners and sprayers; use climbing hooks, belts, ropes and ladders Additional Requirement- Driver's license, drug testing and criminal background check; physical stamina and strength; workers must wear protective gear

5 Tree Trimming Training Programs and Classes Tree trimming programs and classes prepare students for certification or certification renewal. Topics covered include defects and decline in trees, basic tree pruning and tree trimmer safety. Students have the option of earning a certificate or an associate's degree in arboriculture. They can learn about pruning and caring for trees, tree climbing and principles of urban forestry. Students can also enroll in a tree pruning course, which covers topics such as thinning, plant and tool sanitation, cleaning and reduction pruning. Students can also get the chance to participate in outdoor activities that provide hands-on experience. Another option for students is to enroll in a horticulture certificate program, which can assist students in preparing for arboriculture certification exams.

6 2# Oil Rig Driller Offshore This position requires the supervision of the crews that perform different tasks on the oil rig according to the regulations of the oil company, making sure that the work of the crew follows all company policies as well as enforcing rules regarding safety and PPE requirements. A Driller must constantly verify the equipment and record the data into a log. Most importantly, the Driller is responsible for the equipment and the safety of his crew members during all operations.

7 Salary Oil rig workers make on average just under $100,000 a year, but salaries can vary widely depending on skills this job may be dangerous, difficult work, but oil drillers are well compensated for the job: In 2011 the average salary for rig workers and other industry personnel was $99,175

8 Entry requirements You would normally get into this job after first working with the drilling crew as a roustabout and roughneck. You will usually need at least two years’ experience and be aged 18 or over to apply for jobs.

10 Onshore When you start a job you will usually have some initial training onshore (often known as 'greenhand' training), which can include: health and safety manual handling working with hazardous substances working at heights helicopter and helideck safety banksman slinging (using hoisting equipment).

11 Offshore To work offshore, you must pass an offshore survival and fire-fighting course, also known as emergency response training, or basic offshore induction and emergency training (BOSIET). This may be part of an Apprenticeship, or it can be done separately as a short course. Some employers may provide BOSIET training, but you can fund it yourself while you look for work offshore.

12 3# Handcrew firefighter

13 What's a Handcrew Firefighter Hand Crews normally consist of 18-20 crewmembers and are used for a variety of operations on a wildland fires. Hand Crews are assigned duties on wildland and prescribed fire primarily that consist of constructing fire lines with hand tools and chainsaws, burning out areas using drip torches and other firing devices, and mop-up and rehabilitation of burned areas. Hand crews may or may not have assigned permanent supervision.

14 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

15 Other Requirements Before an employee is hired, he/she must successfully complete pre-employment requirements including, but not limited to: fingerprinting and background check, reference check, DMV check, licensure/certification check, Oath of allegiance to the United States of America and the State of California, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States

16 Salary $14.90 - $20.08 Hourly $2,582.67 - $3,480.53 Monthly
