Creating Your Presentation NOW THAT YOU WROTE YOUR PAPER, IT’S TIME TO EXPLAIN YOUR WORK.

Presentation Mode  Mrs. Pagano is going to explain the different programs you can use to create this presentation.  I don’t care which you use as long as it follows the requirements and directions.

First Part of the Presentation Introduce Your topic and Explain Your Reasoning

EXAMPLE  Global Warming- The climate shift that is taking place because of pollution  I chose this topic because I really believe that this is a problem and I wanted to learn more about what is happening in our world. I am also interested in the what I can do to stop it from happening.

Second Part of the Presentation  Write your thesis statement  Then explain how you came up with your thesis statement. Explain your thinking.

EXAMPLE  Thesis Statement: Global warming is a terrible thing that must be stopped before we ruin this world completely.  Explanation: I started out with a good idea that this was a terrible thing, but as I did my research, I learned that the facts are quite grim. At the end, all of my reading solidified the idea that there needs to be active, worldwide solutions that assist with cleaning up our planet and ending global warming.

3 rd Part of the Presentation  Interesting facts and ideas that proved your point.  ONLY the highlights please!  ONLY three please!  Paraphrase and be sure to include sources

EXAMPLE (YOU WILL NEED THREE)  One article by Joseph Levy showed that global warming had three concrete causes. These are not easy things to fix. Water Pollution Industrial Pollution

4 th Part of the Presentation  Overview of the importance of what you learned from writing about your topic  How the process of creating this i- search helped your writing, researching, thinking

EXAMPLE The topic of global warming is really expansive, and I still feel there is so much for me to learn. Overall, my understanding of the long reaching effects and the things that need to be done has more than doubled. I will not soon forget the harrowing facts that I read about the damage of smog and carbon monoxide in our atmosphere. I have really started to think and change my habits when it comes to recycling and disposing of my own trash. I plan on starting a more intensive recycling program here at the high school to help others understand.

EXAMPLE Continues… Since going through this outstanding experience with my dedicated teachers (Mrs. Pagano and Ms. Merritt), I have improved infinitesimally. I can create a viable outline to help organize my thoughts into a workable form to write a paper of this magnitude. My ability to read and highlight and annotate article to find valuable information to integrate into an argument has become much better. Thinking critically is something I never thought about before, but now I understand how important it is for creating arguments.
