6 “Shall I go up to one of the towns of Judah?” he asked. The Lord said, “Go up.” David asked, “Where shall I go?” “To Hebron,” the Lord answered. 2:1

17 David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David… And he became more and more powerful, because the Lord God Almighty was with him. 5: 9-10

18 And David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel. 5:12

19 “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. I Peter 5:5b-6
