1 EDHEC Business School is convinced that competencies, usually referred to as “soft skills”, are as necessary as technical skills to succeed in an internationally competitive environment. It is for this reason that, with the Talent Identification & Career Development (TI&CD) programme, EDHEC has made them an integral part of the career development offered to students. The TI&CD is unique in Europe. Designed by the EDHEC Career Centre with input from recruiters and faculty, the programme was developed to offer students valuable insight and tailored career guidance and to accompany and prepare them for the international recruitment methods of major companies. The TI&CD programme is recognised as one of EDHEC’s best practices by AACSB and Equis. The TI&CD, that mirrors the graduate programmes of Fortune-100 companies, aims to assess all final-year students on ten managerial competencies, highly demanded by employers, provide them with feedback based on this assessment, and, finally, offer them personalized coaching and training to understand and improve their strengths and areas for improvement. INDIVIDUAL CAREER PATH TALENT IDENTIFICATION PHASE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PHASE 1 DAY ASSESSMENT CENTRE: ONLINE TESTS - CASE PRESENTATION - COMPENTENCY BASED INTERVIEW - GROUP EXERCISE CONTINUOUS FOLLOW UP: CAREER COACHING MEETING - MOCK INTERVIEWS - COMPETENCY WORKSHOPS > After assessing the skills they developed during the gap year internships through an online survey, all students undergo a complete assessment centre where they face 4 different exercises. Students are assessed by internal and external “facilitators” who grade the students and write extensive feedback on their performance. The grades and the feedback are used in the following phase at the individual level as well as at the group level, where the grades allow the Career Centre to build a ranking of the students based on their performance. In the weeks following the assessment centre, all students have a career meeting with a coach, where they discuss the results of the exercises, the feedback provided by the evaluators, what needs to be improved and how. Students can also discuss their career objectives and plans with the coach, typically an expert in the area of specialization of each student. As a result of these coaching sessions, students leave with a personal career development plan. The final steps of the TI&CD involve competency development workshops and mock interviews with recruiters. All these are voluntary and adapted to each student’s needs. 10 KEY COMPENTENCIES EVALUATED DURING TI&CD
