Praise, Concerns and Prayer

Special Music Above All With My Savior’s Love

Now grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of the Messiah’s gift. 8 For it says: When He ascended on high, He took prisoners into captivity; He gave gifts to people. 9 But what does “He ascended” mean except that He descended to the lower parts of the earth? 10 The One who descended is the same as the One who ascended far above all the

heavens, that He might fill all things. 11 And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, [growing] into a mature man with a stature measured by

Christ’s fullness. 14 Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. 15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head—Christ. 16 From Him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament,

promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part. Ephesians 4:7-16 (HCSB)

BELIEVER’S ARE TO LIVE BY USING THEIR SPIRITUAL GIFTS III August 10, 2008 Pastor Groover

I.All Believers’ Are Gifted. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Ephesians 4:7 (ESV)

Every genuine believer has received a spiritual gift, a highly specialized gift. He has received his gift to carry out the ministry of the Lord upon the earth. Jesus Christ gives us the grace to use our gifts.

II. All Believers’ Gift Cost The Highest Price Possible.

Therefore it says, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." 9 (In saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) Ephesians 4:8-10 (ESV)

Jesus Christ had to die and experience hell for men in order to gain the right to gift men.

III. All Believers’ Gift is Christ-Centered. And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers… Ephesians 4:11 (ESV)

It is Christ and Christ alone who gives spiritual gifts to men. 1. The gift of an apostle. The word "apostle" means to send out. 2. The gift of a prophet. This is the gift of speaking under the inspiration of God's Spirit. It includes both prediction and proclamation.

3. The gift of an evangelist. This is the gift of carrying the gospel all over the world. 4. The gift of a pastor. This word means shepherd. 5. The gift of a teacher. The function of the teacher is the gift to instruct believers in the truth of God and His Word.

IV. All Believers’ Gift(s) Have A Purpose.

Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be immature like children.

We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly.

As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:12-16 (NLT)

Immediate Purpose Eternal Purpose Personal Purpose

Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my hands and let them move At the impulse of Thy love, At the impulse of Thy love. “Take My Life, and Let It Be Consecrated ”

Take my feet and let them be Swift and beautiful for Thee; Take my voice and let me sing Always, only, for my King, Always, only, for my King. “Take My Life, and Let It Be Consecrated ”

Take my silver and my gold, Not a mite would I withhold; Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise, Let them flow in ceaseless praise. “Take My Life, and Let It Be Consecrated ”

Take my will and make it Thine’ It shall be no longer mine; Take my heart, it is Thine own, It shall be Thy royal throne, It shall be Thy royal throne. “Take My Life, and Let It Be Consecrated ”
