2 We flipped our Summer Y.E.S. program Tired of offering the same summer youth employment services? We were, so we decided to combine agency resources to “Flip our Summer Program”. The youth loved it!!! We took our traditional Diversified Occupations Curriculum and incorporated Real Life Industry Standard Certifications, Real World Job Training and Real Solid Partnerships. You’re here now, so maybe you will “Flip” too!

3 What is Y.E.S. ? Y.E.S. is a collaborative effort among agencies designed to provide youth 15-21 with coordinated services in the areas of:  Job Readiness  Pre-Employment Skills  Work Experience  Work Based Training  Life Skills

4 Y.E.S. Mission Statement: “To assist youth in gaining independence and respect through rewarding work opportunities that develop positive skills, habits and attitudes.” GLENN COUNTY y.e.s. ) (Youth employment services) Say “YES” to your future!

5 Why a Collaborative? Better coordinated services and support for youth. Resources go farther when people and dollars are shared. Provides a more coordinated approach to working with business partners. Students can earn credits Industry Recognized Certification

6 Key Elements of a Successful Collaborative A shared vision. A willingness to bring resources to the table. A willingness to take the risk. The suspension of turf issues. The ability to perpetuate the vision to the front line staff. A commitment by those involved to not allow one program to take over the collaborative. Honesty when working with other partners. Acknowledgment of limitations and the ability to find alternatives. Commitment to continuous improvement. Hard-work Problem solving Patience

27 Summer Schedule Traditional Model -Monday-Friday 4 Hours Daily -Daily Classes 1 Hour -Classes in each town (4 Schools) -Students trained in their town of residence -Separate Ceremonies New Model -Monday – Thursday 5 Hours Daily -(1) Class Weekly 5 Hours -2 Towns (All Schools Included) -Students train in any town based on Crew of choice -One combined ceremony
