1 Salvation is Forever Michelangelo - Sistine Chapel

2 Salvation is Forever - Questions
Once a person prays to receive Christ as Lord and Savior, what happens to them to make them saved? Is there anything a person can do to lose their salvation? What did God do to make sure that we are always saved? Can a person commit sins and stay saved?

3 Question of Unpardonable Sin
A question arises as to what is the unpardonable sin? What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?

4 Question of Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit/Unpardonable Sin
The verses in question occurred when Jesus was talking to the Pharisees who had hardened hearts and rejected Jesus. The unpardonable sin/blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is rejection of Jesus Christ (John 3:16, 36) Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He is the propitiation (satisfaction) for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2)

5 What Happens at Salvation
Salvation is when a person prays to ask Christ into the hearts as Lord and Savior of their life (Romans 10:10). The church (“Ecclesia”) is made up of people who prayed to receive Christ. The list of things that occurs at salvation is amazing with about 70 things received at salvation. God is capable of salvation – for “the Lord’s hand is not short that it cannot save.” (Isaiah 59:1) Because of the life, work, death and resurrection of Christ to pay for our sins, God saves us if we only ask Him to save us. (John 3:16)

6 Some Key Things Given at Salvation
A place (“room”) in heaven (John 14:2-3) Eternal life (John 3:16) The promise of not dying spiritually and no separation from God in Hell (John 3:16) Grace (unmerited favor) is the means of salvation (Eph 2:8-9) Made a member of the church, the body of Christ (Romans 12:5) Placed “In Union with Christ” – “For as in Adam all die, even in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Cor. 15:22)

7 In Fellowship with God – “Light”
Tale of Two Circles If we sin, we move out of fellowship and after we confess our sin, we move back in fellowship (1 John 1:9) Placed permanently in Union with Christ at salvation (Gal. 3:26) In Fellowship with God – “Light” Union “in Christ” Because of the payment for the Penalty of Sin on the cross by Christ Out of Fellowship with God and in Sin (Power and Presence of Sin) – “Darkness”

8 The World’s Sin Paid for by Christ on the Cross (1 John 2:1-2)
Tale of Two Boxes Perfection of Jesus – Lamb without a spot Man’s Sinfulness (Rom. 3:23) – “All have sinned” and come short of the glory of God. God’s Absolute Righteousness (Perfection) Man’s Relative Righteousness – “filthy rags” (Isa. 64:6) Books of Works BUT No Book of Sins (Read Rev. 20:12) Names added to Book of Life when saved Righteousness God’s Absolute Righteousness Imputed Through Receiving Christ by Grace Through Faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) Sin The World’s Sin Paid for by Christ on the Cross (1 John 2:1-2)

9 Revelation 20:12 Rev 20: 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Rev. 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Rev. 20:13 And the sea (often a reference to mankind) gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man (person) according to their works.

10 Scriptures on Eternal Security of the Believer
Jesus said, “And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:28) Jesus continues, “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. (John 10:29) Finally, Jesus said, “I am my Father are one.” (John 10:30) Pluck is Greek word “Harpazo”, which means to seize by force, to snatch out or pull away

11 Scripture on Eternal Security of the Believer
“But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through the sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:” (2 Thess. 2:13) “Whereunto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thess. 2:14) “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.” (2 Thess. 2:15) “Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace.” (2. Thess. 2:16)

12 Scripture on Eternal Security of the Believer
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1) “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2) “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” (Romans 8:3) “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:4) For as many as are led by the Spirit of god, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14) The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” (Romans 8:16)

13 Scripture on Eternal Security of the Believer
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Romans 8:35) “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37) “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,” (Romans 8:38) “Nor height (2nd dimension), nor depth (3rd dimension), nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of god, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:39)

14 How to Obtain Salvation Forever
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10) “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” (Romans 10;11) “For whosever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “For the gifts and calling of God (includes salvation) are without repentance (without regret).” (Romans 11:19)
