2 City of Ellsworth Bike-Ped Planning May 2009 Accomplishments: POLICY and ADMINISTRATION The City Council adopted the Bicycle-Pedestrian Plan, designated Downtown and Urban Core Policy Areas, and adopted Bike-Ped policies in its Street Design & Construction Standards in Chapter 56; The City Council adopted the Bicycle-Pedestrian Plan, designated Downtown and Urban Core Policy Areas, and adopted Bike-Ped policies in its Street Design & Construction Standards in Chapter 56; Bike-Ped issues and priority projects communicated to the Roads Committee. City hired local engineer to help plan annual sidewalks budget for maintaining & rebuilding existing as well as adding new sections of sidewalk beginning in 2010; Bike-Ped issues and priority projects communicated to the Roads Committee. 3 City of Ellsworth Bike-Ped Planning May 2009 Accomplishments: BIKE-PED PROJECT FUNDING Bikes Belong-- Received $5,000 for Connector Trail from Birch Avenue to Beals Avenue; Bikes Belong-- Received $5,000 for Connector Trail from Birch Avenue to Beals Avenue; Transportation Enhancement Grant “$1m” for Rail with Trail from Ellsworth Falls to Birch Avenue; Transportation Enhancement Grant “$1m” for Rail with Trail from Ellsworth Falls to Birch Avenue; MDOT to fund two-mile Rail with Trail from Washington Junction with possible leftovers from DEST.
