5 Summer Scholars Camp for AP Students Want to get a head start on your AP classes for next fall? Meet other students preparing from around the District? Have fun learning from experienced AP teachers—who can help you earn college credit for your AP class? Come to Summer Scholars Camp!

6 The Summer Scholars Camp for AP* Students will prepare you for the challenges of a college level course. And, if you attend the full week of Summer Scholars Camp AND three of four Quarterly Review Sessions during the school year, you will earn.5 Honors credit! GOALS: (1)To overcome “AP anxiety” and prepare students for academic excellence in their selected courses. (2)To focus on how to manage a demanding course load by providing you with the organizational and study skills that you can take with you to college. (3)To prepare for the specific courses you will take next year with class-specific workshops

7 Who: The camp is open to ALL 2012-13 Memphis City Schools students entering the 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th grades and enrolled in an Advanced Placement course during the 2012-13 school year. Where: On campus at the University of Memphis When: Two one-week sessions in the summer

11 Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30-10:40 – Class 1, with a 10 minute break at 9:30) 10:45-11:45 - Class 2 11:45-12:30 - Lunch 12:30-1:30 – Class 2 1:30-1:40 – Break 1:40-2:30 – Specialty class (Creating your college resume; Writing college essays; college entrance exam math, science and reading; writing college essays; researching colleges and scholarships)

12 Friday: 8:30-9:30 - Specialty class 9:40-11:00 – College recruiters (from local colleges and universities) 1:00-12:00 - Wrap up!
