2 THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY  Must read well or the rest isn’t read  Do it last; do it right  Short, succinct and staccato  Cover all components  Hit the value proposition early  Describe venture as invest-able and exit-able

3 THE COMPANY  Nature of the Business o Brief description of product, industry, market, needs and problems o Vision/Mission/Objectives  Structure o Ownership type (corp., partnership, etc..)  Core Competencies o What sets you apart from the competition? Economies of scale, technological advantage, access to distribution

4 THE MANAGEMENT  Management Overview o Who will manage the organization? What tasks will they be responsible for? What “holes” exist in your management team?  If there are “holes”, will you have a board of directors? Advisors?

5 THE PRODUCT  What are you selling?  Why is it unique?  Why should I buy your product?  Be specific about what you are selling and why it stands out from the competition. Refer to Chapter 5 for more information on all of these sections
