3 Toys Victorian toys were different to modern day toys. They hade toys like toy trains, soldiers,jigsaws and tea sets. Meatal hoops were also popular for boys and dolls were popular for girls. There was a rule that you could only play with a Noah’s ark on Sunday. Rocking horses had real horse hair on them. Home

4 Inventions Victorians were very smart. They invented lots and lots of inventions too. For example the first flushing toilet, radio, car and the telephone. They were also famous for trains and iron railways. But for the Victorians exploring the world was still very dangerous… Home

5 Workhouse When poor people didn’t have a home they would go to the workhouse. The workhouse stared at 1834.The workhouse was a very cruel place. They workhouse was also for old, orphans, disabled, mentally ill and unmarried mother. You would work for VERY long hours and some people died. The sound of the factories was deafening and the hot rooms really didn’t help. People had to work for their food every day and night and some times they have no lunch! Home

6 Homes Victorians had different homes to one and other. The more small your house was the more poor you were. In every house they would have a chamber potty under your bed or out in the cold. For richer people in there house they would have a scullery room for preparing vegetables and washing cloths. Home

7 Schools Schools. Schools were very strict in Victorian times. If someone was being bead behaved you would get the cane and wipe you VERY hard. The children would write slate boards and slate pencils.If you were at work and not at school your family would get fine and the Company you worked for. Teachers were very harsh and a bit too strict… Home

8 Queen Victoria Queen Victoria was the queen for the Victorians. Victoria was born in 1837 and died in 1901. She married Prince Albert(her German cousin).Queen Victoria had 9 kid called Edward VIII, Victoria, Alice, Beatrice, Leopold, Alfred, Helena, Arthur and Louise. Home
