The Life of Christ Matthew Mark Luke John 2

Mark 16: Applications For Today We are expected to believe the eyewitness testimony of the resurrection of Jesus. Mark 16:11, 13-14 11 And they, when they heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, disbelieved. 13 And they went away and told it unto the rest: neither believed they them. 14 And afterward he was manifested unto the eleven themselves as they sat at meat; and he upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them that had seen him after he was risen. 3

Mark 16: Applications For Today The “Great Commission” is still for us today. Let us continue to take the gospel into all the world. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. 4

Mark 16: Applications For Today The choice is simple: believe the gospel and receive salvation or disbelieve the gospel and receive condemnation Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieves shall be condemned. 5

Mark 16: Applications For Today Belief coupled with baptism is necessary for salvation. This is confirmed in the book of Acts where the apostles carried out the “Great Commission” (note the belief and baptism in these passages Acts 8:13; 8:37-38; 16:31-33; 18:8). 6

Mark 16: Applications For Today Note the belief and baptism in these passages Acts 8:13 And Simon also himself believed: and being baptized, he continued with Philip; and beholding signs and great miracles wrought, he was amazed. Acts 8:37-38 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. 7

Mark 16: Applications For Today Note the belief and baptism in these passages Acts 16:31-33 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house. 32 And they spake the word of the Lord unto him, with all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately. Acts 18:8 And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. 8

Mark 16: Applications For Today We must submit to the authority of Jesus Christ as he rules and reigns at the right hand of God. Mark 16:19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken unto them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 9

Mark 16: Applications For Today We must submit to the authority of Jesus Christ as he rules and reigns at the right hand of God. Ephesians 1:20-23 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. 10

Mark 16: Applications For Today God’s word has been confirmed as true by miraculous signs. Mark 16:20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Hebrews 2:3-4 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation? which having at the first been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard; 4 God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and by manifold powers, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will. 11
