Identify and be familiar with updates and strategies in wound care, infections and infection management. Identify and demonstrate the use of different skin allograft materials. Be up-to-date with current diagnostic, medical and surgical treatments available in managing diabetic patients with neuropathy and skin ulceration. Topics in Plantar Plate Repair Identify and be familiar with the surgical management of flexor plate tears through a plantar approach. Identify and demonstrate the use of a dorsal approach with metatarsal osteotomy for flexor plate repair and the different material and equipment that facilitate flexor plate repair. Demonstrate knowledge of the use of FDL transfer and other methods of dealing with elevated digits. Complications in Hallux Valgus Surgery Identify and be familiar with the surgical management of nonunion, malunion and avascular necrosis. Utilize evidence-based guidelines on reducing infections and complications of Hallux Valgus surgery. Identify and be familiar with the different methods of managing recurrence, loss of range of motion and iatrogenic hallux varus. The attendee will become familiar with the clinical criteria used to evaluate post-traumatic arthritis of the ankle, rearfoot, and forefoot. Understand the radiological and advanced imaging evaluation of symptomatic arthritis following injury. Formulate a surgical treatment plan for arthrodesing of post-traumatic arthritic joints. Consider the different options and evaluations needed in consideration of ankle joint arthroplasty. Formulate different adjunct procedures such as osteotomies or arthrodiastasis in the treatment of post-traumatic arthritis.
